A few free, as well as some for-pay, downloadable packs will be hitting Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker. All of the downloads are Free Battles, skirmishes that don’t affect the in-game clock that ticks down during story events and battles. The two freebies are Beginner’s Brawl and Lost Demon Rescue. The former will be up at launch and allow new players to level easily and bank some macca, as it won’t have scaling difficulty, while the latter will go live on May 12 and feature a recruitable demon that will join the party if it’s saved from two approaching enemy hordes. The for-pay battles run $0.99 each and switch things up by offering different scenarios, such as chasing down demons toting tons of macca. Full details for all are available below.

Natsume has released their 3DS train-management sim A-Train: City Simulator. The Artdink-developed title tasks players with sustaining a transportation company through subsequent eras, starting with steam-powered trains, by managing the company’s finances and keeping customers happy. Support structures can also be built to maintain additional means of travel, including bus routes, subway stations, and airports.

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate sells over a million in Western markets

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for 3DS has proved to be the fastest-selling entry in the series for Western markets, having shipped one million units across retail and digital channels since February 13. To celebrate, Capcom will be releasing a free 3DS theme next month. The theme joins the company’s ongoing free post-release efforts, which includes monthly downloadable quests that go live on the first Friday of every month.

Atlus to bring PS Vita RPG Dungeon Travelers 2 stateside shortly

Atlus will be bringing a new role-playing game to the PS Vita this summer, Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & the Monster Seal. The PSTV-compatible dungeon crawler will follow Royal Library apprentice Fried as he finds and recruits a band of female adventurers to assist him in stopping a monster uprising in the outlands of Romulea. The game will feature a first-person perspective and turn-based combat as well as five classes, a sub-class system, 16 recruitable characters, and unique sub-events for all party members.

Sega expands 3D Classics Series 2 with Gunstar Heroes, more

Starting this July, Sega will be adding three more titles to their 3D Classics Series. The first up will be 3D Streets of Rage 2, followed by 3D Gunstar Heroes in August and 3D Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in September. Two more from the original batch are still to come, with 3D Fantasy Zone II launching tomorrow and 3D Thunder Blade next month. As with the first series, each game runs $5.99 and features remastered graphics with support for 3D, new modes, and new features.

The Fafnir Knight highlighted in new Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold trailer

Etrian Mystery Dungeon was just released two days ago and Atlus is already well underway in preparing Etrian Odyssey 2 Untold for release in North America. To get everyone up to speed before its summer launch, the studio has posted a new video focusing on the protagonist, the Fafnir Knight. As the bodyguard of Princess Arianna, he will not only use sword and shield to protect her life but also the power of the Fafnir to transform into a demonic version of himself to access new, more powerful skills.

Etrian Mystery Dungeon grabs its kit and heads out to retail, eShop

After weeks of class reveals, Atlus has released the adventurers of Etrian Mystery Dungeon to set out on their labyrinth-filled journey. The action-heavy dungeon crawler is a combination of two different styles, with the class and progression systems of Etrian Odyssey and the perspective and combat of Mystery Dungeon. Players must take a four-party band into randomly generating dungeons in order to find out what’s behind the recent increase in monster attacks. Also available today are five downloadable items that are free until May 7 as well as a .99 3DS theme. As a reminder, all launch copies come packed with a soundtrack sampler with six rough cuts, a 28-page art-and-info booklet, and a slip cover.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker’s demon auctions are the topic in the latest trailer from Atlus. Players can utilize fusing for acquiring new demons, but their limited number of uses means that new demons will have to be acquired primarily from an eBay-type app on their character’s phone. Demons are rated for their power and skills, and others within the game world will check the same stats and get into bidding wars with the player for the best on offer.
