Official Statement Operation Flashpoint: Resistance immerses players
in a new campaign, with intriguingly different play style, that forms a prequel
to the original game's plot and is set years before Operation Flashpoint's Cold
War hit crisis point. Operation Flashpoint: Resistance casts the player
as Victor Troska, an experienced ex-Special Forces soldier. Having turned his
back on his military past, Troska has settled into a respectable civilian life
on the island of Nogova, a short distance from the original game's three islands.
However, his situation changes when the Soviet force invades the island group
and destroys Troska's idyllic dreams of a peaceful retirement.
General Information Operation
Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis was a title that took many gamers by surprise
and offered them an unparalleled experience in wargaming. By taking on multiple
roles, gamers not only got to pound the dirt on foot, but also command a tank,
and fly a helicopter, all while jumping into the roles of different characters
and watching an unknown enemy slowly show themselves. Now, Bohemia Interactive
is set to bring us back into the never-ending landscape of combat again with their
latest add-on to Cold War Crisis, Resistance. Set up before
Cold War Crisis, Resistance is a precursor to the events that bubbled over
and led to the large U.S. intervention of the original. Gamers will take on the
role of ex-special forces soldier, Victor Troska. Hoping to live out the remainder
of his days in peace, Victor retreats to an island by the name of Nogova; this
island just happens to be near the three islands from Cold War Crisis.
This happened to have been one of the islands that the Soviets used to build-up
their war machine, and now, Victor's dreams of tranquility are no more. Using
his honed skills as a skilled soldier, Victor must now do what he can to stop
the Soviet incursion and band together a group of other like-minded individuals
and form a resistance. As the Soviet forces increase on the island, so does the
band of rebel fighters, and soon Victor is thrust into the role of leader as they
take on the responsibility of ridding the island of the Soviet presence.
Resistance will feature a new 20-mission campaign, and to helping Victor survive
these 20 missions are new weapons and vehicles, all of which can be stolen or
scavenged to bring back and used to arm other resistance fighters. There are also
new stand-alone and multiplayer missions; for all you who seek your glory online,
multiplayer will be getting a massive overhaul with a dramatic increase in performance.
For those who enjoy the single-player aspect, the new campaign is set on a new
massively scaled island, so those who longed for the days of wondering through
wilderness and stumbling upon an enemy encampment again should rest easy. And,
to help keep everything current, the graphics and sound have gotten an improvement
- with the huge plane of battle in Cold War Crisis, the terrain should
now surpass any other game out there and, hopefully, the character models have
been fancied up as well. With a unique twist on the series and the ability to
play as a small band of fighters, Resistance looks to be shaping up quite
nicely.
