Official Statement

Halo, enhanced for play on the PC, contains all of the action-packed combat and thrilling gameplay that made the title a smash hit for video game fans everywhere. Armed with a brand new arsenal of weapons and vehicles, Halo delivers challenges and surprises, as well as intense online multiplayer competition exclusively for the PC, including new multiplayer maps.

General Information
What's there left to say about Halo?

The brainchild of Bungie Software, Halo was the first Xbox title to sell over a million units and garnered equally impressive praise. Based around the struggle between the humans and the Covenant, the player assumes the role of Master Chief, one of the best soldiers around, and takes them on a mystery about the origins of the halo.

The PC port of Halo is being done by Gearbox Software, of Half-Life add-on(s) fame. To give the year-old first-person shooter some life, Gearbox is adding in some additional weapons and an increased focus on multiplayer with more levels. Aside from gameplay mechanics, the port will also take advantage of the PC itself with the ability to go up to resolutions of 1600x1200 and the killer keyboard and mouse combo.

Hands-On
Halo on the PC is pretty much what one would expect it to be like. While still a Beta, it seems as though Gearbox is making good progress as the game is looking and sounding great. Gameplay-wise, I'm interested to see how things turn out. The control mechanics, and the way the guns act themselves, are set up in a way to cater to a console; that is, accuracy is given a little leeway to compensate because the player is using a controller. Now, with the touted keyboard and mouse combo being available, it feels as though whenever the player isn't using a zoomed-up mode, the weapons require little effort from the player. This is an early beta, so this isn't a complaint, but merely an unfinished portion. I look forward to a more evolved - get it? - version, so I could get a better taste of things to come. As of now, though, everything seems to be going according to schedule and PC gamers can look forward to taking on the Covenant in a little bit.

Future updates will be posted as Betas are received.
