Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus demo launches for console, PC

Players can try their hand at Wolfenstein II today with a new free trial. The demo, now available on Live, PSN, and Steam, features the first level of The New Colossus. Those who want to continue the campaign will be able to carry over their save data to the final version.

Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer Expansion: Comrades out now

The downloadable multiplayer add-on Comrades has gone live for Final Fantasy XV. The expansion allows players to join the Kingsglaive elite force alongside their friends to fight to restore the Light after the events of Chapter 13 in the main storyline. The $19.99 release has players equipping power-granting royal sigils to create teams of specialists to take down enemies and beasts, while a single-player portion seems them taking on quests from their base in Lestallum. A new update also went live recently, allowing players to access multiple hunt quests at a time as well as added several recipes.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus’ DLC plans detailed

MachineGames has outlined their plans for Wolfenstein II’s post-launch support. The studio has several pieces of downloaded content in the works. The drops, collectively titled The Freedom Chronicles, introduce three new heroes to the resistance. The pieces can be downloaded separately or together, as part of the Season Pass. The first release, Episode Zero, is available for those who pre-ordered or have the pass, and introduces players to Joseph Stallion, Jessica Valiant, and Gerald Wilkins. The next pack, The Adventures of Gunslinger Joe, is slated for December 14. As former quarterback Joseph Stallion, players will “smash through Nazi hordes from the ruins of Chicago to the vastness of space!” Next up is The Diaries of Agent Silent Death on January 30. The add-on follows ex-OSS agent and assassin Jessica Valiant as she infiltrates Nazi bunkers in California. The final drop, The Amazing Deeds of Captain Wilkins, is slated to go live in March. As US Army Captain Gerald Wilkins, players head to Alaska in order to take down Operation Black Sun.

Ark: Survival Evolved gets Xbox One X update for graphical boost

Survival-adventure title Ark: Survival Evolved has been beefed up for Xbox One X. The free update adds “HDR visuals, 1440p high-resolution options, longer draw distances and enhanced visual effects, higher framerates, significantly reduced load times and much more.” Two visual modes are on offer: Detail Mode for 30 frames per second at 1440p, long-range shadows, high-quality textures, extended draw distance, and realistic weather; and Medium Quality for 60 frames per second at 1080p. Rise of the Tomb Raider gets visual update for Xbox One X

Crystal Dynamics has updated the Xbox One version of Rise of the Tomb Raider to take advantage of Xbox One X’s increased power. The free download, co-developed with Nixxes Software, adds three visual modes: Native 4K (full 3840 by 2160) for the highest fidelity resolution, Enriched Visuals for graphic upgrades, and High Frame Rate for the smoothest gameplay. General improvements include HDR support, Spatial audio support, enhanced textures, improved volumetric lights and reflections, enhanced foliage, upgraded polygonal detail, and more. Season Pass owners also receive all of the new content in the 20 Year Celebration release, which adds single-player content, co-op for Endurance mode, an additional difficulty level, outfits, and skins.

Xbox One X now available worldwide in stores, online

The next line in Microsoft’s Xbox family has been released to retail, Xbox One X. The new system supports 4K gaming, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray playback, and 4K streaming. The release notes that it is “40 percent more power than any other console.” The added horsepower is going to improve existing Xbox One games with sharper textures, better framerates, and faster loading. Players with 1080p sets are also going to benefit from many of the enhancements. Going back a bit further, videos from Digital Foundry have demonstrated that Xbox 360 games are currently running better as well, with improved framerates and loading.

Europe calls! Call of Duty: WWII released for console, PC

The Allies set out for their historic showdown with the Third Reich today with the launch of Call of Duty: WWII. As Ronald ‘Red’ Daniels, a member of the 1st Infantry Division, players will find themselves fighting on several different fronts alongside British and French Resistance forces. Multiplayer, co-developed with Raven Software, features team-drive modes, with Allies and Axis soldiers battling it out in objective-based missions with player-created characters from classes across five divisions. All will interact in a new social space called Headquarters. Nazi Zombies also returns with a standalone storyline that introduces new characters who find themselves in a Bavarian village. In addition to the standard edition, there is the $99.99 Digital Deluxe Edition, which comes with the Season Pass, as well as the $99.99 Pro Edition with the Season Pass and a SteelBook case.

Halo 5: Guardians – Overtime update adds 4K support, modes, more

Halo 5: Guardians received its Overtime update today. The latest patch adds 4K support and other enhancements for Xbox One X, Oddball mode, the Local Server app, new commendations, weapon tweaks, and eSports-themed weapon skins. Descent: Underground to get physical, digital release in 2018

Publisher Little Orbit has announced that they have inked a deal with Descendent Studios to release a physical version of Descent: Underground. The reboot brings the classic, dizzying shooter to a new audience with retail copies for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Little Orbit will be assisting with funding as well, in addition to taking on marketing and distribution. The studio also noted that Steam users who purchased the game through Early Access will still receive the finished game once it’s released.

GTA Online’s Halloween event, discounts, and more announced

GTA Online is following its four-year milestone with a host of new additions, and some Halloween discounts. One of the new vehicles is the Western Seabreeze, which can land on a runaway or open ocean, and can be outfitted with a machine gun and a bomb bay. Halloween celebrations are ongoing with Double GTA$ & RP across numerous modes for the day: Lost vs Damned, Slasher, Beast vs Slasher, Come Out to Play, and the Transform – Inferno Race. From today until November 6, Double GTA$ & RP bonuses are offered in Adversary Mode Condemned and a special Halloween Playlist that features the new Inferno Transform Race, Lost Vs Damned, and Slasher. Discounts are also running during the same period for Fränken Stange, Lurcher, LCC Sanctus, and Duke O’Death. A list of discounts and events can be found below. Rockstar also sent out a reminder that players can claim GTA$400,000 by logging in through November 6, which should hitting Maze Bank accounts by November 13.
