Dishonored release date, box art revealed
Bethesda has sent word that their fellow ZeniMax-owned cohort Arkane Studios is set to release their upcoming action title, Dishonored, on October 9. The first-person shooter features the exploits of Corvo, a supernatural assassin who was once in the service of the Empress’ guard but has since been framed for her murder.

Mass Effect 3 to host weekend multiplayer event, Operation Silencer
EA and BioWare are running a new Multiplayer Weekend event for Mass Effect 3. Dubbed Operation Silencer, the event will run from 6 p.m. (PST) on Friday, May 11 to 5 a.m. (PST) on Monday, May 14. The event is comprised of two challenges, one kill count and one survival. Allies who take down 3,000,000 banshees will receive a Victory Pack, while those that survival until a full extraction on any of the maps on gold difficulty will receive a Commendation Pack.

Pre-order programs announced for The Amazing Spider-Man
Webhead fanatics looking forward to Activision’s upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man will want to take note of a number of new pre-order programs announced today. Gamers who put down some cash on a copy before its launch on June 26 will be able to access the Rhino Challenge (GameStop) or a special mission starring a playable Stan Lee (Amazon.com). Both extras are available for a limited time and only for the 360 and PS3 versions.

Aksys announces, details Record of Agarest War 2 Limited Edition
PlayStation 3 gamers looking to scratch that strategy-RPG itch will be able to get their fix soon, courtesy of Aksys Games and Record of Agarest War 2. Not only that, but the company is looking to make an impression with a Limited Edition version that includes an array of unique extras, including an inflatable doll of Felenne, compressed 8 x 12″ hand towel*, and artbook.

Starhawk drops in on store shelves for PlayStation 3
Lightbox Interactive and Sony Santa Monica’s sci-fi third-person shooter Starhawk has hit store shelves for the PS3. Set in the frontiers of space, players take part in a single-player campaign takes them through “diverse interstellar environments” as well as battle with up to 31 others in multiplayer that also supports four-player local and online co-op. Through the Build & Battle system, players call down structures from an orbiting space station to secure their base and strike back at their enemies as they engage in vehicle-based combat.

Colossal Mayhem DLC launches for Prototype 2, more on the way
The first round of Prototype 2′s post-launch DLC packs have been detailed. Two drops are scheduled for May, with the first, the Colossal Mayhem pack, available today. The second release, Excessive Force, will hit Live and PSN on May 29. Both packs, detailed below, are priced at 400 MS Points/$4.99 apiece and add new skins, weapons, and force multiplier powers.

Rockstar kicks off Max Payne 3 comic with free first issue
In anticipation of the upcoming release of Max Payne 3, Marvel and Rockstar have launched the first chapter of a new comic series based on the game, “After the Fall”. The free issue, available at Rockstar’s site to view online or download as a PDF, tells of Max’s troubles throughout the first two releases via flashbacks set off by a confrontation at a bar in Haboken from Max Payne 3.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier goes gold for 360, PS3
The troops are about to start pounding the pavement again with the announcement that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has gone gold for 360 and PS3. Players will lead an elite team of special ops troops around the world as they chase down the world’s baddest with all sorts of high-tech weaponry. Future Soldier will not only support heavy weapon customization but also the Ghost Recon Network, a franchise-spanning app that will keep players abreast about what their friends are up to and what new user-tweaked guns have hit the (virtual) market.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II details, screens released
Some new screenshots and additional details have emerged about Treyarch’s next entry in the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Set in 2025, players are thrust into a new Cold War dominated by near-future technology, with combat relying heavily on robotics and drones. As the new crisis reaches a boiling point, players must make their way through a branching storyline that features non-linear missions, a first for the series.

Sniper Elite V2 out and skulking about store shelves, Steam
505 Games has announced that Rebellion’s third-person tactical shooter, Sniper Elite V2, is now available for the 360, PC, and PS3. A reboot of 2005′s Sniper Elite, V2 features American OSS agent Karl Fairburne in a race through war-torn Berlin to uncover details about the V-2 rocket program before the Red Army. Described as a “detailed sniping simulation with advanced ballistics,” gamers can look forward to checking gravity, wind, and stability as they go for a kill shot—and if the shot’s good enough, an enhanced kill cam with x-ray detail will kick in to track the impact.
