Aksys has released a demo of Arc System Works’ latest fighter, Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-, for PS3 and PS4. The only hitch is that it’s currently only available for PS Plus members, at least from now until December 8. The demo features two playable characters, Ky Kiske and Sol Badguy, as well as access to Tutorial Mode and the prologue via Arcade Mode.

Symbiotes invade Zen Studios, announce Venom Pinball

Venom will be swinging out of the pages of Spider-Man and into his own game, courtesy of Zen Studios. The developer has announced that a new Venom-themed pinball table will go live on December 8 for its various platforms, including Marvel Pinball, Pinball FX2, and Zen Pinball 2. The table will feature Venom battling both Spider-Man and fellow Symbiote-powered villain Carnage. A handful mini-game will also play out Spider-Man’s time with the Symbiote as well as Carnage’s origins.

Destiny Expansion I: The Dark Below Prologue trailer reveals Crota

Bungie has released a new trailer for their upcoming Destiny expansion, The Dark Below. The CG-only video runs just short of a minute and a half and gives players a glimpse of Crota, a Hive god that must be defeated before he can launch an invasion of Earth.

Resident Evil remake progress revealed in 19 new screenshots

Capcom has released nearly 20 new screenshots from the upcoming remastered version of Resident Evil. The new version is based on the GameCube re-release from 2002 and is currently in development for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. This latest iteration will sport upgraded textures, remastered audio with support for 5.1, the choice between 4:3 or 16:9 widescreen, and support for a new control scheme or the old tank-style controls.

Dragon Age: Inquisition deploys its agents to console and PC

The inquisition begins! Sort of. EA has announced the release of BioWare’s latest role-playing game, Dragon Age: Inquisition. No one is being boiled alive, but players will be tasked with making difficult decisions that have an effect on the progression of their party and the storyline. As a rogue, mage, or warrior inquisitor, players must track down and stop those who are sowing seeds of discontent across the realm. To that end, agents can be assigned tasks, keeps looted, and strongholds attained. Multiplayer is also supported for up to four players in co-op quests that are set outside of the main storyline.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor expands adventure to 360, PS3

PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners are now getting their chance to take the fight deep into Mordor. The current-gen versions of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor are now in stores and up for purchase at digital outlets. The open-world action title, set between The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, puts players in the role of Gondorian Ranger Talion, who is on a quest for revenge. After Sauron kills him and his family, Talion is resurrected by a Wraith Spirit and sets off to battle Sauron’s forces and discover why he was brought back to life. Each enemy Tailon faces will result in a procedurally generated encounter that is said to be unique to each player, with enemies featuring different strengths, appearances, and missions. And as part of their pact with the wraith, players will be able to control the enemies they encounter, forming an army of their own.

LittleBigPlanet 3 launches in stores, online for PS3 and PS4

Sackboy is making his next-gen debut today with the release of LittleBigPlanet 3 for PS3 and PS4. Co-developed by Sumo Digital and Sony XDev Europe, the latest in the creation-centric platformer series introduces three new characters, OddSock, Swoop, and Toggle, as well as new items and triggers to utilize in Create mode. Additionally, the 9-million-plus user-created levels already available for the series are also playable. PS4 owners have access to a few new system-specific features as well, including support for the Dualshock 4’s touchpad, the ability to livestream, and access to items that can be interacted with and triggered by the livestreaming audience. In the new story, players must guide Sackboy and his friends, alone or with up to four players in local or online co-op, on his quest to restore balance to Bunkum.

Aksys’ 2D fighter Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late dated for February

Aksys Games has announced that their upcoming PS3 fighter Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late will be hitting retail and online outlets on February 24. The co-developed French Bread and Arc System Works brawler will feature 16 characters and six game modes: Arcade, Score Attack, Time Attack, Training, Survival, and Network for online multiplayer.

Far Cry 4 gets eight-minute-long 101 Launch Trailer

A new trailer has been released for Far Cry 4, the 101 Launch Trailer. The video is over eight minutes long and features the protagonist’s backstory as well as info on the area’s factions, weapons, locales, quests, multiplayer, weapons and crafting. It’s a pretty thorough walkthrough, and made up largely of gameplay footage. The fourth entry sets players loose in the Himalayas in the midst of a civil war to overthrow the dictator Pagan Min. Drop-in/drop-out co-op play is also supported.

Assassin’s Creed Rogue and Assassin’s Creed Unity now available

In addition to the current-gen Assassin’s Creed Rogue, Ubisoft has also announced the release of the PC- and next-gen-only Assassin’s Creed Unity. ‘Generation’ is hard to define at the moment, so bear with us. Rogue’s launch trailer was posted yesterday. Unlike Rogue, which follows a Templar during the Seven Years’ War, Unity is set during the French Revolution and follows Arno, a man who turns to the brotherhood after the loss of a loved one. Players will be able to traverse an open-world Paris, taking down targets as they gain new skills, customize weapons, and earn new gear. Unity also includes four-player co-op missions that reward special co-op gear, and players will get to utilize unique co-op skills based around agility, force, or stealth.
