Puyo Puyo Tetris now available for PS4 and Switch

Crossovers aren’t just for fighters. Sega has upped the ante today with the release of the hybrid puzzler Puyo Puyo Tetris. The crossover title allows gamers to play rounds of Puyo Puyo, Tetris, or a fusion of the two. Numerous modes offer the chance to go one-on-one against the computer or human opponents in local and online multiplayer. Modes allow players to add power-ups, race against the clock, swap boards, and take on a variety of other challenges. The final two tutorials from Puyo pro Phong Tran have also gone live.

Console, PC versions of Lock’s Quest pushed back to May 30

THQ Nordic’s upcoming real-time strategy, tower-defense-style game Lock’s Quest has been pushed back from April 25 to May 30. The original version was developed by 5th Cell for Nintendo DS, while the latest, developed by Digital Continue, will be available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. As in the handheld version, players must protect their village during a 75-day-long war. The updated re-release will feature remastered music, remapped controls for keyboard/mouse and gamepad, an updated interface with new art and customized for higher resolutions, an additional map for Antonia Defense Battles, and Endless Mode. A new progression system will also unlock turrets at specific plot points.

Call of Duty: WWII in development at Sledgehammer

Activision has officially revealed that Call of Duty will be going back in time with the next entry, Call of Duty: WWII. Players can find out more when developer Sledgehammer Games shows what they have in store during a worldwide reveal livestream on Wednesday, April 26. Studio co-heads Michael Condrey and Glen Schofield will be guiding viewers through a first look and detail their plans for the game. The event will kick off at noon CallofDuty.com.

NIS releases patch for PS4 version of The Silver Case

A patch for The Silver Case has gone live on PSN that addresses an issue with two post-game scenarios. After installing the patch, players will be able to access Yami and White Out Prologue once they complete the game. Another problem with cinematics displaying black or fuzzy screens is being investigated, but the studio suggests a workaround that requires setting the system’s language to English or English UK. All applications in use must be closed before changing the language. More info on a fix should be coming along in the near future.

Birthdays the Beginning screenshots highlight challenges, creatures

A new batch of screenshots has gone live for NIS’ upcoming god-game-like sandbox title Birthdays the Beginning. The shots show a variety of the modes and mechanics on offer, including Challenge Mode and the Mysterious Glass Jar. The latter is one of the many items that the player will accumulate to toy with the world. Instead of adjusting the topography or temperature, the jar saves the genetic makeup of an organism, allowing players to convert the contents back into said organism whenever and wherever they wish.

Syberia 3 to release next week for console, PC, launch trailer up

Kate Walker will return soon with the release of Syberia 3 on April 25. In her latest adventure, Kate is attempting to help the Youkols during the migration of the snow ostriches. Her journey through Syberia is said to be filled with strange characters and situations that will “shatter her life.” Head down to watch the launch trailer.

Cursed Castilla EX goes physical with Limited Edition for PS4

Locomalito’s action-heavy platformer Cursed Castilla EX, also known as Maldita Castilla EX, will be getting a limited physical release. Publisher Abylight Studios has teamed up with Eastasiasoft Limited to produce 3,000 copies of the Ghosts ‘n Goblins-esque adventure for the PlayStation 4. Scheduled to launch next month, the hard copy, titled Cursed Castilla EX Limited Edition, will cost $29.99 and be exclusive to Play-Asia.com. The bundle will come with the game, a 70-minute-long soundtrack CD, a numbered certificate, and a collector’s box. Pre-orders require submitting an email to mark interest in a copy.

Disney Afternoon Collection brings 6 Capcom classics to console, PC

Capcom is going full-on 8-bit today with the release of The Disney Afternoon Collection. The six-title compilation bundles Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers 2, Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, DuckTales 2, and TaleSpin. Each title has been updated with HD graphics along and supplemented by an in-game Museum filled with art and title history, a Rewind feature, and two modes, Boss Rush and Time Attack.

Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom now available for PC, PS4, Xbox One

Shiness: The Lightning Kingdom has officially launched for console and PC. The action role-playing game sends players on a journey through the fragmented world of Mahera, guiding Chado and four of his friends. The group finds themselves caught between warring kingdoms, and they must make their way through hordes of enemies by harnessing magic and engaging in a fighting-game-style combat system. The title was initially funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, but was eventually expanded with assistance from Focus Home Interactive.

NIS releases visual-novel-style adventure The Silver Case for PS4

Suda51’s visual novel The Silver Case returns today, courtesy of NIS. The HD remake updates the crime thriller with enhanced visuals and extra content. Initially released in 1999, the game tasks players with tracking down a killer that is behind a series of strange murders. Finding them will involve using point-and-click adventure-style mechanics.
