Batman: Arkham City gets a touch of Castle with Stana Katic
Warner Bros. made a small Batman: Arkham City announcement at Comic-Con this week. Stana Katic from ABC’s Castle has signed on to voice the character of Talia al Ghul. If you don’t know of Talia, then you might know her father, the classic villain (and one of the best on the animated series) Ra’s al Ghul.

QuakeCon 2011 – full schedule now available
John Carmack’s Annual Keynote kicking off QuakeCon 2011 has already been announced, as have a number of other speakers and presenters. Today Bethesda and id have released the entire line-up for the upcoming event, which includes information on all the panels and panelists, such as Kevin Cloud (id), Abbie Heppe (Respawn), Julien Roby (Arkane), and Ryan Schneider (Insomniac). The Darkness II pushed back to 2012
It looks as though Jackie Estacado’s adventures won’t be continuing as soon as we thought. 2K Games has announced that The Darkness II has been pushed back from October 4 to February 7. The first-person shooter is currently in development at Digital Extremes, who are no doubt refining the many ways in which sentient demon arms can gut a man, and will pick up some time after the original, with Jackie now the head of a crime family.

Activision announces Edge of Time and Destiny voice-over cast, discussion panel, and more for Comic-Con 2011
Activision is kicking off their Comic-Con 2011 festivities with several announcements, including the voice-over cast of their upcoming Spider-Man and X-Men titles and info on a panel featuring the man himself, Stan Lee.

Square Enix announces Comic-Con 2011 demos, panels, and more
Square Enix will be doing their part to get attendees gaming at this year’s Comic-Con. Alongside Final Fantasy XIII-2 at booth 3829 will be previews and playable demos of Deep Silver’s zombie survival-horror title Dead Island, Eidos-Montreal’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and Ankama’s Wakfu. In addition, there will also be one-hour panels for both Deus Ex and Dead Island as well as the debut of Dissidia and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Play Arts -Kai- figurines. QuakeCon 2011 Quake Live, Brink tournament details announced
Bethesda has announced tournament details for the upcoming convention of all things id, QuakeCon. The latest in the long-running free event is set to take place at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas, Texas, from August 4-7. This year’s convention will feature tournaments for Quake Live and Brink. Quake Live will have two tournaments, a 16-player Duel and an eight-team Team Deathmatch, while Brink will host a 16-team Team Death of five-player crews. All players will be using the same system, the Alienware Aurora, and prizes top $40,000. Full details are provided below.

Sega announces Comic-Con 2011 pop-up arcade of playable demos
Last bit of Comic-Con news for the week, and this time it’s from Sega. Attendees looking to game it up should check out the company’s “pop-up arcade,” which will feature playable demos of Captain America: Super Soldier, House of the Dead: Overkill – Extended Cut, Guardian Heroes, Rise of Nightmares, Renegade Ops, Shinobi, Sonic Generations, and a new, unannounced game.

Tor announces Comic-Con 2011 signings, chats, contests, and more
Tor, publisher of many a fine sci-fi titles and game novelizations, is ramping up for a double whammy: Comic-Con and their monthly #Torchat. The company’s booth, #2707, will host signings, giveaways, and a live #Torchat on Thursday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thirteen authors will be on hand for signings, including Vernor Vinge, Brandon Sanderson, George R.R. Martin, and Bill Willingham. Four members of the Tor Brigade will also be around for the chat and festivities: Theresa DeLucci, Laura Fitzgerald, Patty Garcia, and Justin Golenbock.

Ubisoft to bring Rabbids, Rayman, and more to Comic-Con 2011
The Comic-Con train roars along today with Ubisoft’s announced plans to regale attendees with their wares. Gamers will be able to check out the first public demos of Just Dance 3, Rabbids: Alive & Kicking, and Rayman Origins. The company will also be holding a panel discussion based around the Assassin’s Creed franchise, which will include writers from the upcoming game Revelations and animated film Embers.
