Final Fantasy XV has sold over six million units, according to Square Enix. The figure includes copies sold at retail and through digital outlets. Five of the six million were sold on launch day. Post-release downloadable content has also gone live to expand the base game, with two drops on offer: the free Holiday Pack and for-pay Holiday Pack+. Downloading either pack will allow players to access a special upcoming in-game event, the Moogle Chocobo Carnival, beginning Tuesday, January 24.
Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours’ fifth downloadable bundle, based off of several of Eighting’s titles, is slated to launch on January 18. The three included packs feature a new ship, three stages, and new music each, with designs from Battle Garegga, Mahoudaisakusen, and Soukyuugurentai (Terra Diver). Ten arranged stages are also bundled, along with three boss fights and 10 stages for CS mode in CS Pack 3. The packs can be purchased individually for $4.99 or as a bundle for $11.97. Note that DLC ships can only be used in DLC levels.
Turn 10 and Playground are ringing in the new year with a new set of rides for Forza Horizon 3. The seven-car Rockstar Car Pack includes the debut of the BMW i8 along with a wide range of additions from a Ford trophy truck to a Volve supercar. The seven include the 2015 BMW i8, 2015 Volvo V60 Polestar, 2015 Radical RXC Turbo, 1972 Ford Falcon XA GT-HO, 1987 Nissan Skyline GTS-R (R31), 2014 Ford #11 Rockstar F-150 Trophy Truck, and the 2016 Bentley Bentayga. Iron Galaxy has released a free new costume for Killer Instinct’s Thunder. According to the announcement, the Nez Percés assisted the studio in coming up with Thunder’s original look, but the ties to nostalgia and the lead up to release led to them being unable “to get everything right.” Now that they’ve wrapped up season three, the team has returned to release a costume said to be 100% authentic to the cultural traditions of the Nez Percé.
Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s first downloadable pack, Sabotage, will debut for PS4 on January 31. The Infinity Ward-developed drop will include four multiplayer maps: Dominion, Neon, Noir, and Renaissance. Dominion is a remake of the Modern Warfare 2 map Afghan, now set on Mars. The download will also include a ‘90s-themed Zombies co-op mode, Rave in the Redwoods, with director Willard Wyler recasting the original crew in new roles.
Hatsune Miku’s third stage has opened up in Hatsune Miku: VR Future Live. The PSVR-exclusive entry receives seven additional songs today, for $14.99: Raspberry * Monster by HoneyWorks, Amazing Dolce by Hitoshizuku & Yama?, Sweet Devil by Hachioji P, Erase or Zero by Crystal P, Beginning Medley – Primary Colors by OSTER project, Name of the Sin by ryo (supercell), and a special encore performance of The First Sound by malo. A demo is also available on PSN.
Blizzard Mountain Expansion has gone live for Forza Horizon 3. Blizzard Mountain adds a new high-terrain area to Australia, along with extra events, challenges, and a new campaign. For the first time, players have to contend with snow, heavy wind, and sunlight reflecting off of ice. Seven rides are included to tackle the new environment: 2016 Ford Gymkhana 9 Focus RS RX, 1965 Ford F-100 Flareside Abatti Racing Trophy Truck, 1975 Lancia Stratos HF Group 4, 1985 Lancia Delta S4 Group B, 2016 Nissan Titan Warrior Concept, 2016 RJ Anderson #37 Polaris RZR-Rockstar Energy Pro 2 Truck, and 2016 Subaru #199 WRX STI VT15r Rally Car. MS is hosting a day-long stream to celebrate the release at the official Forza Beam channel, with presenters showing off the latest additions and answering questions.
A new gameplay video has gone live showcasing Doom’s Free Update 5. The update brings a variety of additions and changes, including the new competitive mode Infernal Run for Multiplayer, where teams fight for a ball to score in their opponent’s goal; bot support in the original maps in Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch; and a rank extension to Echelon 11, which unlocks the Doom Marine Armor (Praetor Suit). SnapMap also receives some goodies, including additional elements from the campaign, Lazarus Lab-themed modules and props, and the Doom Marine in the traditional armor.
