Gears of War 3 gets free DLC courtesy of new Mission: Impossible
To help promote Paramount Pictures’ upcoming Brad Bird-directed spy thriller Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Gears of War 3 players will be able to snag a download of the Versus Booster Map Pack for free on Thanksgiving. The DLC includes two new maps (Bullet Marsh and Clocktower) as well as three more from the Horde Command Pack (Azura, Rustlung, and Blood Drive). But there’s more! A free weapon skin pack is also on offer to players from around the globe … but there’s a catch.

Astronaut: Moon, Mars and Beyond donor contest announced
We mentioned NASA’s Kickstarter-funded MMO Astronaut: Moon, Mars and Beyond a few weeks back, and since then, the project has surpassed its goal of $25,000. The drive still has a few days to go, and to celebrate its successful run (over $40,000 pledged so far), a new contest has been announced. Fifty winners will be randomly selected out of all donors to receive a free copy of the upcoming title Project Moonwalk.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Five Days of 40k promo kicks off
With Relic’s action-shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine just around the corner (September 6), publisher THQ has announced a five-day contest in which different prize types will be given away each day until launch. The giveaways will take place on the game’s official Facebook page, with prizes ranging from merchandise to in-game content.

Prototype 2 – preorder contest announced, win a trip and cameo
Activision’s sent word that they’ve teamed up with GameStop in a Prototype 2 preorder contest. From now until September 1, gamers who are at least 18 years old and preorder at GameStop will automatically be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Radical Entertainment in Vancouver, Canada. The winner will also be made into a character for the game—a trip and immortality, a double whammy.

Zen Studios kicks off Spider-Man table tournament for Pinball FX2
Zen Studios has launched a high score tournament for the Spider-Man table within the Marvel Pinball set for Pinball FX2. The top three scores will win a Marvel Digital Comics Subscription, a Spider-Man Bass Skyline tee from MightyFine, and 4,000 MS Points. The second and third place prize packs include a digital subscription, Spider-Man Bass Skyline tee, and 1,600 MS Points. Random players will also receive prizes throughout the tournament window, which runs from July 29 through August 12. To participate, simply complete a game of Spider-Man on Pinball FX2.

Pre-order Deus Ex: Human Revolution at GameStop to enter Augment Your Living Room contest
Square Enix is looking to up the pre-order ante with a new promotion for Deus Ex: Human Revolution. In conjunction with GameStop, gamers who pre-order Human Revolution at a participating store for the 360, PC, or PS3 will be entered into the Augment Your Living Room PowerUp Rewards contest. Dark Souls shield design contest announced
This isn’t normally something we would bring to you good people, but A.) we loved (love) Demon’s Souls and B.) the idea of user-created shield emblems in a tough-as-nails RPG is awesome. With that said, Namco Bandai is running a Facebook contest for Dark Souls, the 360 and PS3 spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls, in which contestants submit shield designs from now until July 13 via Facebook.com – Dark Souls. The three winning designs will then be available as post-launch content, and their designers will receive both a copy of the limited edition version signed by game director Hidetaka Miyazaki and their name in the credits.

Rage – Graffiti Contest, Sweepstakes now live
Bethesda has launched a Graffiti Contest and a Sweepstakes for id’s upcoming shooter, Rage. Inspired by the graffiti found scattered throughout the game, the contest gives aspiring artists a chance for the world to see their work with the winner’s material being featured in the final version. In addition, winners will also receive an iPad and a free trip to QuakeCon 2011 in Dallas, Texas. The sweepstakes gives the less creative of us a chance to win as well with the winner also receiving a free trip to QuakeCon 2011 and an iPad.
