Dark Souls II shield design contest announced, screens released
A new shield design contest has launched on Facebook for Dark Souls II. Gamers who want to see their work in-game can submit their shield designs between today and May 13 for the community to vote on. Voting will start on May 14 and end on May 20, and the entries with the most votes will be sent to FromSoftware for the final round of selection. The development team will choose six designs to appear in the game, and Namco Bandai will announce the winning artists at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

God of War: Ascension demo, contest for early access announced
A single-player demo for the next God of War, Ascension, will be available on February 26, but Sony has announced a new contest for players to try it a week early. Godofwar.com is hosting the Rise of the Warrior social experience, an online game that not only unlocks weapons for multiplayer (pictured) but also offers early access to the upcoming demo for the first Spartan or Trojan team to earn 10 million points.

Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan demo, contest launch
A new demo has launched on the Nintendo eShop for Atlus’ Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan. The upcoming first-person role-playing game will feature 3D dungeons, skyships, and some old-fashion dungeon-crawling. The demo features the opening areas and the introduction, which include the Old Forest Mine mini-dungeon, the Windy Plains skyship area, and some of the first main dungeon, Lush Woodlands. All progress is transferrable to the final game.

Hitman HD: Trilogy limited edition, art contest announced
Square Enix has announced that IO Interactive’s upcoming Hitman collection, Hitman HD: Trilogy, will be available as a limited edition. Trilogy, set to launch on January 29, will come with an art book filled with 22 drawings by various artists depicting moments from throughout the series. Combined, all three games in the pack will offer players the chance to take down over 75 targets across 40-plus levels. Hitman: Sniper Challenge, the standalone game that was released as a pre-order bonus for Absolution, will also be included.

Aksys continues the BlazBlue celebrations with two new contests
Aksys is celebrating three years of BlazBlue in the US with three contests, and they have just announced that the final two are now live. The first, which took place back in August, was all about finding the biggest fan, while the second looks for a bit of creativity and the third a bit of promotion. Caption the Blue challenges contestants to come up with a witty caption, while All Eyes on the Azure is all about spreading word about this weekend’s Northeast Championships XIII in Philadelphia, PA.

Mass Effect Trilogy out for 360 and PC, Loyalty Pack dropping 11/7
BioWare has kicked off N7 Day with the release of Mass Effect Trilogy for 360 and PC. The $59.99 collection will be available for the PS3 on December 4, and will mark the first time PS3 gamers get a chance to experience the original in full as either part of the set or as a standalone download from PSN for $14.99. Current players will be able to get into the festivities tomorrow with the N7 Day Loyalty Pack, a one-day-only free DLC drop. The 360, PC, and PS3 download will include rare weapons and six consumables.

Capcom puts call out for gamers’ art, photos for Remember Me
Capcom’s upcoming action-adventure title Remember Me will incorporate art and photos from gamers around the world. Aspiring designers can make their mark in Neo-Paris by trying their hand at designing billboard advertisements for five in-game companies by checking out the Adverts in 2084 contest page. Another promo, which kicked off yesterday, allows players to submit photos and a short description of some of their favorite memories to have them randomly chosen and incorporated into Memory Overload attacks. Gamers wanting to share their photos have until November 29 to submit them at the game’s Facebook page.

CastleStorm unleashes karaoke fury in new trailer, contest
Zen Studios has tapped into their musical side for a new karaoke-style trailer for CastleStorm. The upcoming 2D physics-based title pits Knights against Vikings, and the trailer brings their battlefield hymns to awaiting commanders as the two sides prepare for combat.

Dragon’s Dogma contest, update, and new PS3 demo announced
Capcom has announced that they will be releasing a new demo for their fantastic action-RPG Dragon’s Dogma next week. The demo, exclusive to PS3, will allow players to utilize the character-customization system to create their own hero, and then take them character through the game’s Prologue, which ends with a battle against a nasty Hydra. Characters created for the demo will also be importable to the full version.

Gears of War 3 gets free DLC courtesy of new Mission: Impossible
To help promote Paramount Pictures’ upcoming Brad Bird-directed spy thriller Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, Gears of War 3 players will be able to snag a download of the Versus Booster Map Pack for free on Thanksgiving. The DLC includes two new maps (Bullet Marsh and Clocktower) as well as three more from the Horde Command Pack (Azura, Rustlung, and Blood Drive). But there’s more! A free weapon skin pack is also on offer to players from around the globe … but there’s a catch.
