Both PS Vita models price cut to $199, memory card prices reduced

PS Vita (System) Price Drop Announcement - Header

Sony has announced that they have lowered the price on both PS Vita models as well as for the entire line of memory cards. The price drop was revealed during Sony’s conference at this year’s Gamescom, where they also announced the November launch date for PS4. The prices have been adjusted so that both are now the same price, with the Wi-Fi model now $199.99, down from $249.99, and the 3G/Wi-Fi model also $199.99, down from $299.99. The lower price should help to move units, which will allow more players to take advantage of Remote Play, a feature that allows players to stream PS4 games to PS Vita systems via Wi-Fi. The memory cards, a contentious topic for owners given their exorbitant price tags, have been reduced by as much as 33 percent: 4GB cards are now $14.99, 8GB cards are $19.99, 16GB cards are $39.99, and 32GB cards are $79.99.

PS Plus will function as it does now, with game giveaways and special discounts, but it will also be required to play games online; however, it will not be required for streaming media from such services as Hulu and Netflix.
