SNK and ATLUS will be returning to Evo this year, and bringing some cash with them. The King of Fighters XIV will be one of the tournament titles, and the studios are ponying up $14,000 in pot bonus prize cash. First place will receive $8,000, while second place will take home $4,000 and third place, $2,000. Also on hand, though for bragging rights instead of cash, will be Puyo Puyo Tetris. Attendees will be able to try out the hybrid puzzler at Atlus’ booth.
Linux and Mac gamers will be able to try their hands at Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap soon, when it goes live next week on July 18. DotEmu, the game’s publisher, also announced that they have released the game’s soundtrack on Bandcamp and Steam. PS Store should at it shortly, too. The $4.99 download ($3.99 when bundled with the game) features 89 tracks, of which 33 are main tracks featuring live musicians and 56 are bonuses comprising alternative versions and rejected material. A Collector edition is also set to launch alongside a Classic version. Collectors will receive the game, the soundtrack, 10 collectible cards, a 24-page retro-style manual, a poster, and reversible cover with the original artwork.
Street Fighter IV returns, sorta. Capcom has returned to the long-running entry with a new release for iOS, Street Fighter IV: Champion Edition. The follow-up to Street Fighter IV Volt features 25 characters, including three new fighters (Dudley, Ibuki, and Poison); four difficulty levels; Arcade and Versus multiplayer; and updated graphics, with wide-screen support. A tutorial has also been added for newcomers.
