Cyber Rhino launches campaign for PC shooter Gryphon Knight Epic

A new Kickstarter has launched for a new side-scrolling shooter with a medieval theme, Gryphon Knight Epic. Developed by Cyber Rhino Studios, the Brazilian developer is looking for $18,000 to fund the title for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. In addition to traditional shooter elements, the game is said to also include exploration and duel-like boss battles, as Sir Oliver and his faithful gryphon Aquila battle through six levels that feature branching paths and two bosses. The buy-in price to gain a download voucher is $10, and the rewards go up from there to the single-slot Ultimate Cyber Rhino Gryphon!!! package for $1,500, which will allow the flush backer to assist with designing a stage, a plushy of the duo, and more.

Clockwork Empires heading to Steam Early Access next month

Colonial overlords Gaslamp Games has decided to send their steampunk-flavored survival-management sim Clockwork Empires to the wilds of the Internet, also known as Steam Early Access. The latest version will go live on August 15 for $29.99. In an alternate, dystopian past, players will serve as a Junior Bureaucrat of the Empire and lead a band of colonists as they attempt to survive against Cthulhu-esque cosmic horrors, murderers, and their own ambitions. Each colonist will have their own personality traits that might see them become a proper citizen of the Empire or turn against their neighbors in service to their own avarice (damnable mumpers and bludgers!). Players can attempt to follow assignments issued by the Empire or strike out on their own with a faction of their choosing.

Destiny beta breaks records, logs over 4.5 million players

Activision has released details about the recent beta for Bungie’s upcoming first-person shooter Destiny. The beta period kicked off on July 16 and closed on Sunday, and in the intervening period, the game logged over 4,638,937 unique players. According to Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg, the program marked “the biggest beta of this console generation by a wide margin and the largest console beta ever for a new video game IP to date.” Bungie COO Pete Parsons added that they “cannot thank the community enough” and that “the response was humbling.”

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare storyline detailed in new trailer

A new trailer has launched for Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. The three-minute-long Campaign Story Trailer follows the events that lead up to the game, which revolves around a massive terrorist attack on nuclear facilities across the globe. As nations struggles to rebuild, a private military contractor takes the lead and begins to emerge as the sole superpower. Expect to see a lot of sci-fi-styled armament and fast-paced action. Pandora to get new race, embrace espionage in Eclipse of Nashira

Proxy Studios is set to expand their 4X strategy title Pandora: First Contact with a new espionage-themed add-on, Eclipse of Nashira. Scheduled to launch later this year, the expansion will add a new faction that specializes in diplomacy and intrigue, a native alien species, agent units that engage in covert warfare and information gathering, minefields, Amphibious formers to convert ocean tiles into land, and a variety of tweaks to the core gameplay.

Pinball FX2 pushed back to next month for free 360 table transfers

Pinball FX2 has been delayed slightly, but the extra time is for a good reason: free table transfers from the Xbox 360 version. Initially, previously purchased tables would be locked to the 360, but after community feedback, the studio followed up with Microsoft about the process and came up with a solution. As a result, the studio has decided to push the release date back until next month, which will allow them the time to work out the transition process so that players will be able to import their tables at launch.

The Last of Us Remastered now available in stores, online for PS4

Sony has released the updated next-gen-ified version of Last of Us for PS4, The Last of Us Remastered. This enhanced version includes Left Behind, the prequel DLC that follows Ellie up to her meeting with Joel, two multiplayer map packs, and new difficulty modes. Performance has also been improved, with support for 1080p, 60 frames per second, longer draw distances, better lighting and shadows, and higher-resolution character models. Remastered is available for $49.99.

Kasedo to publish new PC strategy-RPG Crowntakers

Kasedo has added another strategy title to their line-up, Crowntakers. The strategy-RPG is being developed by Bulwark Studios and scheduled to release later this year for Android and iOS tablets, Mac, SteamOS, and Windows PC. The game will feature procedurally generated environments and enemies, item crafting, recruitable allies, and multiple endings. Players will undertake a mission to save an abducted king by hiring mercenaries and leading them in turn-based battles against barbarians, bandits, and of course, the king’s foes.

Sign-up begins for Rise of Incarnates closed beta

Upcoming PC free-to-play fighter Rise of Incarnates is scheduled to enter closed beta on August 8. Gamers interested in signing up to access the beta, which will run until 11:50 p.m. (PDT) on August 17, can go here. At launch, the closed beta will include characters Ares, Grim Reaper, Lilith, and Mephistopheles, with Brynhildr set to be added on August 13, as well as two battlegrounds, New York City and Paris. A few purchasable items will be made available for testing out the character-customization system.

New extended version of Tekken 7 trailer revealed at Comic-Con

Bandai Namco has released an extended version of the Tekken 7 teaser that was debuted during this year’s Evo. The new cut was shown at the studio’s Fighting Game panel during Comic-Con and runs a little over a minute and a half longer than the original.
