Capcom has announced two new entries in the Monster Hunter franchise: Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate for 3DS and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iOS. Ultimate continues the series’ traditional formula of hunting, gathering, and crafting as a hunter traveling the world in a caravan. A first for the series, handheld gamers will be able to link up both locally and through the Internet by using the Nintendo Network. Other additions include an expanded moveset for greater vertical and lateral range, two new weapon classes, new monsters and locations, refined climbing motions, and the ability to ride monsters.
Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iOS is based on the 2009 PSP re-release of Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G. Supported devices include iPad, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPhone, and iPod touch. Additions for iOS include higher-resolution graphics, touch-screen controls, target camera options, support for MFi controllers, and co-op play for up to four players over WiFi.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is scheduled to launch in early 2015 for 3DS. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for iOS is currently in development and no release window was announced.
