Dark Souls II now out for 360 and PS3, break out the stress balls

The 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Dark Souls II are now in stores. The famed tough-as-nails action-RPG series, which began in 2010 with the Atlus-published Demon’s Souls, returns with the same controller-gripping difficult, integrated multiplayer, and grim atmosphere that has made it such a hit. Series creator FromSoftware continues their role at the helm, adding to the sequel “improved visuals, life-like animations and dynamic lighting” while retaining “the game’s core tenants to provide challenging gameplay and deliver true emotional elation from each hard-fought victory.”

Dark Souls is available in three different versions for both 360 and PS3. The standard version is available for $39.99, the Black Armor Edition (with a metal case, soundtrack, and early access to the Black Armor Weapons Pack) is $59.99, and the Collector’s Edition (with a 12” tall Warrior Knight figurine, exclusive hardbound art book, and cloth map, plus the Armor Edition’s extras) for $119.99. The PC version will be available on April 25.
