Idea Factory has announced that they will be bringing their first PS Vita title to North America, Monster Monpiece. Set for a PSN release this spring, the game is a mixture of card battling and light role-playing elements that tasks players with tracking down a friend who has become “Lost” and leader to a group of creatures known as “monster girls.” As her best friend, May, players must stop Elza and her gang from stealing the protective quartz housed within the world’s cities. The cards are represented by 3D chibi characters, and there are over 100 monster girls to call upon during battle. Each monster has their own skills and weaknesses, and they can be fused for new combinations as well as powered by rubbing the touch screen (it seems even monsters have hearts). The game will also support ad hoc and network modes for multiplayer.
A new high-definition version of Resident Evil 4 will be available for PC next month, according to Capcom. Scheduled for release on February 28, North American gamers will be able to download the re-release off Steam. This updated version will feature “HD running at a smooth 60 frames per second for the first time,” plus sharpened text, improved textures, wide-screen support, and all previously released content, including the Separate Ways epilogue, and game controller support. A pre-order campaign has launched on Steam as well, with early buyers receiving two digital extras: a 60-track soundtrack and an art book.
Lightning returns today, literally. Square Enix has announced that the first playable demo for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will launch later today for PS3 and is available now for 360 Live Gold members. Live Silver members will have to wait until January 28. The demo features a battle-heavy trip through the Yusnaa palace alongside Snow. For players that activate the Outworld feature and submit their score for the final fight against Zaltys, the Siegfried outfit will be unlocked in the full version. As an extra bonus, the PSN version will include the Utsusemi Garb DLC in the demo and full version, which includes the Heavenly Fan weapon and the Kaminari shield.
