Dungeons of Dredmor developer Gaslamp Games has announced their next title, Clockwork Empires. Set for a spring 2014 release, the Linux, Mac, and Windows PC colony builder/management sim follows a Colonial Grade civil servant of the Empire sent to spread its reach and fortune in a new world. Players will have access to steam-powered machines, settlers with their own skills and ambitions, and the ability to go online and share powerful tech with other Imperial pioneers. Beware: progress too far and “Unthinkable Horrors” will arise to attack the colony (see: Cthulhu).
Sega has resurrected the undead-themed touch-typing tutorial subgenre today, just in time for Halloween. It’s been over a decade since the shambling hordes have been felled by vigilant typers, and finally, The Typing of the Dead has received its much-deserved sequel: The Typing of the Dead: Overkill. Available as a download-only release for $19.99, the Modern Dream- and Hardlight Studios-developed follow-up features nine stages, three difficulty levels, mini-games, and randomized words. An upcoming free downloadable pack will also add two-player co-op support. And as a bonus, Typing also comes with the PS3 version of its rail-shooter predecessor, The House of the Dead: Overkill.
Just in time for Halloween, Capcom has released a new trailer for Dead Rising 3. The upcoming open-world zombie-slayer will be released on November 22, and to make sure gamers are prepared to take down the hordes—in style, at that—the trailer showcases some of the many equippable weapons and costumes. Details about the Season Pass were also released, which will go live on November 22 for $29.99 and include access to all four $9.99 game packs: Operation Broken Eagle, Fallen Angel, Chaos Rising, and The Last Agent.
