EA and Dice have released some single- and multiplayer gameplay footage and screenshots from Battlefield 4, including the trailer revealed during Microsoft’s conference showcasing the single-player mission Angry Sea. During the level, players must escape from a sinking aircraft carrier by hijacking a nearby boat. Dice also revealed that Xbox One will receive exclusive DLC, Second Assault, a post-launch pack that will include four Battlefield 3 maps re-imagined using the new Frostbite 3 engine. The multiplayer video shows some best-of moments from a 64-player match on the Siege of Shanghai map that was show at EA’s preview press conference.
Battlefield 4 will also feature the return of Commander Mode and the debut of Levolution. Commander Mode allows two players to take on the role of opposing leaders who support their teammates with intel and gear, and assign tasks for players to complete. All versions of the game will support Commander Mode, and now, players can use their iPad or Android tablets to keep an eye on the action. Levolution causes structures and objects react to the ongoing action for more dynamic matches. An example given involves a skyscraper being downed and players fighting amidst the rubble.
As a thank-you to fans, Dice is also giving away the Close Quarters expansion pack for Battlefield 3. Additional information can be found on the official site.
On a final note, 64-player matches will be supported on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Battlefield 4 is scheduled to launch on October 29 for 360, PC, and PS3. No release date has been announced for the PS4 and Xbox One versions.
