Larian’s Kickstarter campaign for Divinity: Original Sin continues to roll along, with the studio surpassing their initial goal of $400,000 with 10 days to go. Larian has announced that the first stretch goal, a new in-game area called The Shelter Plane at The End Of Time, has been reached now that funding has surpassed $500,000. The shelter will serve as a homestead for players to store items and leave party members. It was also announced that another area, The Phantom Forest, will be expanded for every additional 1,000 backers.
A new shield design contest has launched on Facebook for Dark Souls II. Gamers who want to see their work in-game can submit their shield designs between today and May 13 for the community to vote on. Voting will start on May 14 and end on May 20, and the entries with the most votes will be sent to FromSoftware for the final round of selection. The development team will choose six designs to appear in the game, and Namco Bandai will announce the winning artists at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.
Sega will be resurrecting Mickey this summer with a new re-release of the classic platformer Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse. Originally released for the Genesis in 1990, Castle of Illusion quickly became a must-play game, with its tight controls, colorful visuals, and solid level design. The upcoming download-only release is a re-imaging by Sega Studios Australia that’s being built from scratch using the original as its foundation.
