The irascible god-killing Spartan is back today in God of War: Ascension for PS3. Set early in the series, the Sony Santa Monica-developed release finds a distraught Kratos six months after the loss of his wife and child, and on a path of vengeance. New to the series are a tethering move; the World Weapon system, which allows Kratos to use arms scattered around in finishing moves; and a multiplayer mode with four co-op and versus modes (Match of Champions, Team Favor of the Gods, Capture the Flag, and Trial of the Gods) for up to eight players.
God of War: Ascension is available as a standard edition for $59.99, as a Collector’s Edition for $79.99, and as part of the Garnet Red Legacy Bundle, along with the entire series, for $349.99. Anyone who picks up Ascension will also receive early access to a demo for Naughty Dog’s upcoming survival action title The Last of Us.
