Two new announcements today about Haemimont and Kalypso’s Prohibition-era strategy title Omerta. First up, a new single-player demo has launched on Live Marketplace for the 360. The demo includes two levels, which give players the chance to try some of the game’s turn-based combat as well as the opportunity to plan a heist. A new update has also been announced for both the 360 and PC versions.
Revolution, Treyarch’s newest DLC pack for Black Ops II, is now available for PC and PS3. The drop includes four maps for standard multiplayer, one map for Zombies, the new Turned mode for Zombies, which has players shambling around as the undead, and a new weapon, the Peacekeeper SMG. A new playable demo has launched for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate on eShop. The demo features Trevor Belmont making his way through Dracula’s fortress to face down the executioner. Fortunately, he has access to his trusty combat cross and its iron chain whip, as well as a handful of boomerangs.
Square Enix has released the last of the Tomb Raider making-of videos, The Final Hours of Tomb Raider, titled The End of the Beginning (Part 2). The final installment follows the latter days of development, from working on multiplayer with Eidos Montreal to fine-tuning the single-player campaign, and wraps with a discussion between host Zachary Levi and senior Crystal Dynamic staff.
The Wargame: European Escalation player pool has expanded today with the release of the Linux version on Steam. A timely update has also enabled cross-platform multiplayer, so now all Linux, Mac, and Windows players can rumble together in unranked or ranked matches.
Despite our best efforts, the aliens have managed to spread out from Baghdad and claim much of the world. 11 bit Studios reminds us of the futility of hope with the announcement that their tower-offense title Anomaly will be continuing later this year with Anomaly 2. Scheduled to come out in the second quarter for Linux, Mac, and PC, the $14.99 sequel will include mech alts for troops (awesome), multiple endings, and multiplayer.
The rumored pirate-themed fourth entry in the Assassin’s Creed franchise has been confirmed today by Ubisoft. The notice was pretty sparse, save for the piece of included art, with only a notice that the official title is Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag and that more will be revealed on March 4.
Sega has released a new trailer for Total War: Rome II featuring the famous ambush of Teutoburg Forest, a lethal blow for Rome’s ambitions in Germania and one of the playable historical battles. The minute-long clip showcases the series’ new graphics engine, and the scenario will feature the new true line-of-sight system and deployable battlefield tech.
A post-launch update has been announced for the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Capcom stated that the patch is a result of fan feedback and will add support for cross-region functionality—compatible with North American and European versions of the game—and off-TV direct play for the GamePad.
