Call of Duty fans looking to prove their mettle will get a chance this April as a contestant in a new competitive eSport event, The Call of Duty Championship, presented by Xbox. The tournament will take place in Hollywood, CA between April 5-7 and include $1 million in prizes. Thirty-two of the world’s top four-person teams will compete in head-to-head, live-streamed competitions in Black Ops II. Players interested in signing up can go to the official site, register for an Elite account, and enter their team.
Entry into the tournament will be determined by the outcome of the February season of League Play on Live, which begins today, with the top eight teams winning a trip to Hollywood. Eight teams of the remaining 24 will be from the upcoming MLG 2013 Pro Circuit Winter Championship, which runs March 15-17 in Dallas, TX. The remaining teams will be from the ESL’s European Finals and from other qualification rounds across Asia, Australia, and Brazil.
The event is a partnership between Activision, Major League Gaming, Electronic Sports League, Treyarch, and Xbox.
