Big news in the EverQuest universe today with Sony Online announcing two new expansions, one for the original EverQuest and the other for EverQuest II, and Player Studio, a new service that allows players to create in-game items and sell them in the marketplace for real-world cash.
EverQuest: Rain of Fear marks the 19th expansion for the original release and is set to continue the story from the House of Thule expansion. Rain of Fear will include new features, items, character-customization options, and a new level cap (100). The new expansion for EverQuest II, Chains of Eternity, will include new prestige abilities, adornments that power along with the character, higher level cap (95), items, dungeons, and two spirit-realm versions of overland zones.
Player Studio will allow players to download sample geometry for in-game items and use third-party tools to design, develop, and customize items (names, descriptions, etc.). Items submitted to and accepted by SOE will be included in the Marketplace, with 40% of the net amount of sales going to the creators.
