XSeed is seeing Wii owners off on one more quest before the release of the Wii U with the launch of their latest RPG, The Last Story. Co-developed by Mistwalker and Nintendo, the action-centric adventure follows a band of mercenaries making their way on the island of Lazulis, and on the aspirations of protagonist Zael in leaving his old rough-and-tumble life behind in the hopes of becoming a knight.
To see Zael and company through their trials, players will be able utilize a hybrid combat system that mixes turn-based and real-time elements, with long-range and close-quarter attacks, a cover system, and battle commands for issuing orders to your mercenary cohorts. A multiplayer component also allows players to join up in teams of six to take down beefed-up bosses in a co-op mode or square off against one another in three-on-three deathmatches.
As an added bonus for early buyers, all launch copies include a 44-page art book packaged with the game in a special case.
