Street Fighter (360, PS3) 25th Anniversary Tournament Chess Art Announcement - iam8bit Art Show

The celebration for Street Fighter’s quadranscentennial is set to kick off properly this weekend in Austin, TX,  with the first round in a global tournament series taking place July 28-29. Registration is free and currently open, but a refundable $20 is required in order to book a spot. The tournament will culminate in a grand finals event on December 8 in San Francisco, with fights taking place amongst those who have qualified throughout the year at the various preliminary tournaments. The series will host a number of titles: Street Fighter X Tekken, Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, Street Fighter III 3rd Strike Online Edition, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix.

An art event in conjunction with iam8bit is also scheduled to open in Los Angeles on August 3, with the first showing running from 7 to 11 pm. Over 50 artists will have their work on display during the event’s run, which will end on August 19, though some special pieces will only be on display during opening night. Admission will be free and there will be no age restrictions.

And lastly, a $299.95 limited-edition chess set has joined the $149.99 Collector’s Set on the Capcom store for pre-order. The chess set includes the characters battling it out as silver and pewter resin pieces on a wooden base. A limited run of 5,000 will be produced, and all of the sets are scheduled to ship in August.
