GOG.com made a slew of announcements today at the CDP summer conference. In addition to new additions to their digital library today, including the original Colonization, and three indie day-one releases, the company also slashed the price of The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition by 40%, making it an oh-so-affordable $29.99 for the next week.
On the retro front, Sid Meier’s Colonization is now available for $5.99. It has been joined by a $9.99 Tomb Raider bundle that includes the first three games, “remastered for Windows.” The gory car-combat game Carmageddon was also announced to be hitting the service soon in a bundle, the Carmageddon Max Pack. The $9.99 release will include both the base game and the Splat Pack expansion.
Indie titles will increase their foothold on the service shortly with three new games: Retro City Rampage, Tiny and Big: Grandpa’s Leftovers, and Resonance. Retro City Rampage, an 8-bit open-world parody of all things gaming, will launch on July 1 for $14.99. The game will include over 50 genre-spanning missions and 25-plus arcade challenges. Tiny and Big: Grandpa’s Leftovers, a “weird and humorous platformer” with destructible environments and sandbox gameplay will launch on June 19 for $8.99. Rounding out the upcoming indies is Wadjet Eye Games’ adventure title Resonance. The “atmospheric sci-fi thriller” is currently available for the pre-order price of $8.99, a 10% discount. Early buyers will also get to try out a playable preview that includes the first four hours and features four playable characters. Gamers who pick up the $25 box copy from Wadjet Eye will also receive a GOG.com code for the playable preview.
GOG.com also announced a new initiative to entice more indies to release their games over the DRM-free download service. The company has set up an email account, WeLoveDevs@gog.com, to act as a direct link between them and developers interested in publishing over the platform. Several smaller studios have already released their titles on GOG.com, with the old-school dungeon crawler Legend of Grimrock selling over 20,000 copies within the first two months of release. GOG.com is attempting to draw in more creators with marketing and PR support.
