Dragon’s Dogma to host asynchronous boss battle
Dragon’s Dogma, Capcom’s upcoming open-world action-RPG, is including a unique boss battle that will take into account players’ attacks without featuring all of the players. Beneath Gran Soren lies the Everfall, and from within a dragon known as Ur-Dragon will spawn and challenge players during their campaign. But players, and their computer-controlled allies known as pawns, will not be facing it alone, as others will also be battling the beast in a lengthy asynchronous encounter within their own campaign.

Mass Effect 3 to host weekend multiplayer event, Operation Silencer
EA and BioWare are running a new Multiplayer Weekend event for Mass Effect 3. Dubbed Operation Silencer, the event will run from 6 p.m. (PST) on Friday, May 11 to 5 a.m. (PST) on Monday, May 14. The event is comprised of two challenges, one kill count and one survival. Allies who take down 3,000,000 banshees will receive a Victory Pack, while those that survival until a full extraction on any of the maps on gold difficulty will receive a Commendation Pack.

Wolfenstein 3D turns 20, id celebrates with free iOS, web versions
Wolfenstein 3D has turned 20! And I feel old! To properly celebrate the venerable series’ birthday, Bethesda and id have launched a new version of the original as a free-to-play browser-based game. Gamers can head to wolfenstein.bethsoft.com or Facebook.com – Wolfenstein and give Hitler an updated what for. But wait – that’s not all! Later today, Bethesda will also be offering Wolfenstein 3D Classic Platinum for free (for a limited time) for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the App Store.

Pre-order programs announced for The Amazing Spider-Man
Webhead fanatics looking forward to Activision’s upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man will want to take note of a number of new pre-order programs announced today. Gamers who put down some cash on a copy before its launch on June 26 will be able to access the Rhino Challenge (GameStop) or a special mission starring a playable Stan Lee (Amazon.com). Both extras are available for a limited time and only for the 360 and PS3 versions.
