Zen Studios reveals tower defenser CastleStorm
The pinball wizards at Zen Studios are setting their sights on the tower defense genre. The studio has announced their plans to release CastleStorm, a 2D physics-based game centered on long-range warfare and resource management. Players will have access to a variety of spells, troops, and missiles, including morning stars, homing eagles, and flying sheep, to fend off invading troops attempting to storm their castle (ha!).

Quantum Conundrum headed to PC, Steam in June
Quantum Conundrum, the latest puzzler from Airtight Games, will be available for PC on June 21 exclusively on Steam. The console versions are set to launch on Live Arcade and PSN sometime this summer. Kim Swift, co-creator of the first Portal, serves as creative director for the environmental action-puzzler, which tasks players with finding their uncle, the eccentric Professor Quadwrangle, using his Inter-Dimensional Shift Device. The device will allow the user to enter alternate dimensions, where objects change mass and composition, and can be manipulated in order to progress from one room of the professor’s manor to the next.

Konami pre-E3 show airing online tonight
E3 isn’t quite here yet, but that’s not stopping some companies from rolling out a few announcements. Konami is getting in on the action early tonight, with their second annual pre-E3 show, where they will reveal upcoming titles and offer hints at what else they have in store during the main show. The event will be available for everyone to watch at Konami.com – E3, and everything is set to kick off at 10:30 p.m. (PST).

New Little King’s Story heading to Vita this summer
In a bit of did-not-see-this-coming news, Konami has announced that they will be published a sequel to the 2009 Wii monarchical sim Little King’s Story. Scheduled to launch this summer for the PS Vita, New Little King’s Story will be a download-only release, offering players the chance to rule as King Corobo in his fight to reclaim his kingdom from the nefarious Devil King known as The Nightmare. Players will lead the king’s Royal Guard in combat, expand his territory, and journey throughout the land’s seven kingdoms.

Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland ships to retail for PS3
The Atelier series is back for more crafting and adventuring with the release of the trilogy-ending Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland. As the aspiring alchemist Princess Meruru, players set out to seek an apprenticeship under Totori Helmold. Along the way, Meruru will develop and build new facilities in Arls, battle enemies using a time-card turn system, synthesize everything under the sun, and meet past protagonists Atelier Rorona and Atelier Totori.

GOG.com adds two, announces more, and attempts to woo indies
GOG.com made a slew of announcements today at the CDP summer conference. In addition to new additions to their digital library today, including the original Colonization, and three indie day-one releases, the company also slashed the price of The Witcher 2 Enhanced Edition by 40%, making it an oh-so-affordable $29.99 for the next week.

Guardians of Middle-earth bringing Tolkienian MOBA action this fall
Warner Bros. is jumping into the multiplayer online battle arena genre this fall with Guardians of Middle-earth for the 360 and PS3. The Monolith-developed title will feature 10 players brawling in five-versus-five battles throughout Middle-earth, calling in the aid of over 20 guardians, including Gandalf, Sauron, and Gollum. In-game voice chat, stat tracking, and leaderboards will supplement the action.

Doom 3 BFG Edition announced for 360, PC, and PS3
Doom 3 is rising from its gaming grave with an updated version for the 360, PC, and PS3, Doom 3 BFG Edition. The collection includes the 2004 original, the Resurrection of Evil expansion, and a new seven-level storyline, The Lost Mission. All three support 3D TVs and monitors, 5.1 surround sound, and sport refined controls, improved rendering and lighting, and a new checkpoint system. Best of all? The flashlight will be mounted to the armor. As an added bonus, Doom and Doom 2 will also be included.

Crysis 2: Maximum Edition launches online for PC
Crysis 2 is having another go at PC gamers today with Crysis 2: Maximum Edition. Available at Origin.com and other digital outlets, Maximum Edition includes both of the previously released DLC packs (Retaliation and Decimation), two new weapons, bonus XP, weapon skins and attachments, unique dog tags, and nine multiplayer maps.
