NCsoft launches Guild Wars 2 pre-purchase program
NCsoft has kicked off its Guild Wars 2 pre-purchase program. Players who pick up the Guild Wars 2 Collector’s, Digital Deluxe, or Standard/Digital Editions before launch will receive entry into beta weekend events and access to the game three days before launch. All pre-purchases will also receive an exclusive in-game, stat-boosting item, the Hero’s Band.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 to get Episode II and Episode Metal in May
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 will be expanding on May 15 (PSN) and 16 (Live) with Episode II and a new unlockable story, Episode Metal. The new episode will be 1200 MS Points/$14.99, and for those who already own Episode I, a new four-level expansion featuring Metal Sonic will be available for play. Players will take Metal Sonic through reworked Acts from Episode I and help him prepare for his upcoming battle with Sonic in Episode II.

Mass Effect 3: Resurgence Pack DLC launches on Live, Origin, PSN
Mass Effect 3: Resurgence Pack, the content DLC release announced last week, is now available for the 360, PC, and PS3. The pack includes two new maps, six new unlockable characters, three new weapons, and four new consumables.

Atlus gets fancy with first shots from localized version of Gungnir
The first localized shots of Atlus and Sting’s upcoming tactical role-playing game, Gungnir, have been revealed. Scheduled to launch on June 12 for the PSP, Gungir features turn-based combat, decision points with branching progression paths, and 12 recruitable class types.

New trailer released for Cave’s 360 shooter Akai Katana
Rising Star Games has released a new trailer for Akai Katana, the newest 360 shooter from Cave. Some of the game’s features were also announced. In addition to online leaderboard support and downloadable replays, there will be three gameplay modes (Origin/Arcade, Slash, and Climax), optional Original Arcade settings, and local two-player co-op support in Arcade.
