Assassin’s Creed III announced, set for release later this year

Assassin's Creed 3 (360, PC, PS3, Wii U) Announcement - Header

Ezio might be through with his journey, but the war between the Assassins and Templars rages on. The next hotspot of the war is a surprising one: the Thirteen Colonies on the eve of the American Revolution. On October 30, players will get to try their hand (and blade) at being another of Desmond’s ancestors, the half-English and half-Native American Ratohnhaké:ton. Donning the name Connor, the new assassin will fight the Templars in a battle that spans the Revolutionary War as well as the Colonies and the surrounding frontier.

Assassin’s Creed III will be available for the 360, PC, PS3, and Wii U. Seven studios are working on the three-year-long project, which is being headed up by Ubisoft Montreal and whose efforts are backed by the new Ubisoft-AnvilNext engine. A pre-order bonus was also announced, with gamers shopping at Amazon, Best Buy, or GameStop receiving a limited edition case featuring artwork by comic book artist Alex Ross.
