The PS Vita, successor to the PlayStation Portable, is now available. The system comes in two versions, a $249.99 Wi-Fi model and a $299.99 3G/Wi-Fi model. The system features an OLED front touch screen and rear touch pad, dual analog sticks, motion sensors, and dual cameras. Social network integration features prominently with support for Facebook, foursquare, Skype, and Twitter.
The system also comes with the several pre-installed applications. “Near” informs players of what other nearby Vita owners were or are playing. A “gifting” feature allows owners to share items between one another, such as costumes and weapons, while “party” allows owners to chat via voice or text, regardless of whether or not they are playing the same game. And as with the PSP, the Vita also comes with an Internet browser.
