Double Fine looking to Kickstart new adventure title

Double Fine Adventures (PC) Kickstarter Announcement - Header

Double Fine, known for bringing about brutal legends and oppressed matryoshka dolls, is wanting to release a new adventure title for the PC, and they want your help. The studio is looking to fund the game from the gamers who’ve been eager to pick up, look, put down, and interact with innumerable objects in the off chance that the pen and planter are enough to open a window for a quick escape. Tim Schafer, grand poobah of many a classic adventure games (Full Throttle, Grim Fandango, Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island), is looking to eschew the traditional finance route and bring about a grand new adventure with Ron Gilbert via the crowdfunding service Kickstarter.

Backers receive a variety of rewards depending on the amount ponied up. Goodies range from access to the beta to full copies through Steam to a documentary from 2 Player Productions (Penny Arcade: The Series season one, Minecraft: The Story of Mojang) – there’s even a chance to hang out with Schafer and Gilbert.

Given that the project has generated piles of cash already, it seems as though it’s good to go. The excess money will go towards adding more pizzazz as well as the possibility of the title expanding to additional platforms.
