Things are starting to pick up for 38 Studios’ upcoming role-playing game Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. In addition to a demo announced for the 360, PC, and PS3, set to launch on January 17, publisher EA has sent word that they will be kicking off a cross promotion between Reckoning and Mass Effect 3. The demo includes the full game’s Tutorial Mode, a portion of the game world, a bit of character creation, and 45 minutes of play time. Also, by checking out both games’ demos, players will unlock a special item pack for each game that contains a weapon and an armor set designed by Todd McFarlane (Spawn).
The Mass Effect-themed Omni-blade daggers and N7 Armor will be available for Reckoning. But playing the demo also nets a few more bonuses for the full version: a Twist of Fate Card, an ice-resistant card that is unlocked once the demo is activated using the player’s Origin account; Twinned Souls Chakram, a life- and mana-siphoning weapon; and The Infernal Helm, a fire-enhancing helmet unlocked once the demo’s included Tutorial Mode is completed. Mass Effect 3 players will receive the Reckoner Knight Armor, offering additional close-combat and weapon damage, and the explosive-disc-throwing Chakram Launcher, unlocked by completing the Reckoning demo and watching the trailer at the end.
Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is set to hit store shelves on February 7 for the 360, PC, and PS3.
