As BioWare’s Star Wars: The Old Republic nears its December 20 release, gamers who have pre-ordered the title will be able to play the game today, starting at 6:00 AM (CST). This Early Game Access program, which will grant pre-order customers entry in waves, is said to “help manage server volumes, helping to ensure a smooth day-one experience” and can be joined by gamers redeeming their access code at the official site. All players will find an already-thriving community as BioWare has tallied over 78,000 guilds from the pre-launch beta sessions alone.
Set thousands of years before the films, players will explore the galaxy as a member of the Galactic Republic or Sith Empire. Eight characters will be available (Jedi Knight, Jedi Consular, Smuggler, Trooper, Bounty Hunter, Imperial Agent, Sith Inquisitor, and Sith Warrior), each made up of two subclasses that have access to their own skill tree. Each character also has their own storyline, complete with a fully voiced cast
New copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic come with a 30-day pass, with subscription options available at $14.99 per month, $41.97 for 3 months ($13.99 per month), or $77.94 for six months ($12.99 per month).
