As someone who remembers booting up Arena so many years ago, it’s amazing to see how far The Elder Scrolls series has come. The latest entry in the saga, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, has shipped seven million units across all supported platforms (360, PC, and PS3) and is estimated by Bethesda to earn them “more than $450 million in global retail sales” based on launch copies alone. Over 50% of the launch stock was sold in the first 48 hours, and Skyrim recently set a Steam record with 280,000 active adventurers simultaneously tromping around the lands.
What’s that? You wish Phantasy Star 2 was half off on Live Arcade? Well, lucky you! Sega has announced two new sales on Live and PSN titles running from today through November 29 for PSN and November 22 through November 28 for Live Arcade. Unfortunately, neither Guardian Heroes nor Daytona USA is included—but Phantasy Star 2 is! Sega, you rascal!
Just as gamers are beginning to refine their online skills in Assassin’s Creed Revelations, the title’s first DLC release, The Ancestors Character Pack, will be launching on Live and PSN. The 320 MS Point/$3.99 pack will hit on December 13 with four new characters for multiplayer: the Privateer, Corsair, Brigand, and Gladiator. Each character will come packing their own taunts, weapons, and assassin moves.
Stardock, the previous owner and operator of the Impulse digital delivery service, has announced that they will be releasing several of their titles on Steam. The first title to launch on the platform is Ironclad Games’ real-time strategy title Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity, a collection that includes staff-favorite Sins of a Solar Empire and its micro-expansions Entrenchment and Diplomacy. To celebrate, Trinity is on sale for $14.99 (25% off) on both Steam and Impulse.
All Roads, the 48-page graphic novel released with the collector’s edition of Fallout: New Vegas, is now available from Dark Horse Digital. The prequel, written by the game’s creative director Chris Avellone, details the events leading up to the violent beginning of New Vegas.
