Futuremark needs you. The studio is looking for PC gamers to help them test out their upcoming tower defense-style title, Unstoppable Gorg. Inspired by sci-fi films from the days when men in costumes were super-powered Venusians, players must protect our solar system from the Gorg using a series of satellites. The closed beta is set to begin in a few weeks.
Panzer Corps, spiritual successor to Panzer General and one of the year’s more enjoyable releases, has received a substantial patch. The 1.01 update includes new interface options, gameplay tweaks, and bug fixes. Some of the more notable changes include the addition of a restart scenario option, a window mode option, ability to upgrade forts, fixed Stalingrad victory conditions, and turning supply off gives recon units unlimited movement range. The patch, which will bring all previous versions up to date, can be downloaded from Matrix Games’ website and co-publisher Slitherine’s website.
Looks like you’ll want to budget for an extra controller next month: Dark Souls will be hitting store shelves on October 4 for the 360 and PS3. The spiritual successor to 2009′s PS3-exclusive tough-as-nail action-RPG, Demon’s Souls, finds developer From Software returning to torment gamers with a new quest that will have them facing more traps and creatures on a search for the Eternal Flame of Life. Steel yourself for more fist-pumping in rage and cries of despair as all those precious souls slip away from a stupid mistake—the official site address is PrepearetoDie.com, after all.
