Virtua Fighter 5 might be going on four years old for both the 360 and PS3, but that doesn’t mean Sega’s done with it. Going the download-only route, the critically acclaimed fighter will return via Live and PSN next summer as Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown.

Final Showdown is a standalone release that will feature a “full overhaul” of 5’s mechanics plus new modes, arenas, character items, and characters, including Jean Kujo and 3’s Taka-Arashi. All of the balances and tweaks made to the arcade version in the years since the console release will be included, as well as new wall-based moves, dynamic arenas, and leaderboards.
