2K Games has announced their PAX Prime 2011 line-up. In addition to a playable demo of and panel on The Darkness II, there will also be a playable demo and presentation of Xcom as well as a panel and official unveiling of Borderlands 2.
The Darkness II playable demo will be at booth 3317, and its associated panel—”Video Games and Comics: A Natural Partnership?”—will take place on Friday, August 26 at 11 a.m. in the Unicorn Theater. The demo will offer a sample of the full version, which is set to ship on February 7 for the 360, PC, and PS3, while the panel will feature TopCow CEO and The Darkness creator Marc Silvestri, Creative Director Sheldon Carter from Digital Extremes, and lead environmental artist Ron Davey from Digital Extremes. The panel will “discuss how the blockbuster comic has taken on a new life in video” as well as the inspirations behind the sequel. Ten limited-edition Darkling statues will be given away to attendees who check out the panel.
Xcom, set for release on March 6 for the 360, PC, and PS3, will be playable at booth 3417. As Special Agent William Carter, players will be able to explore some of the new locales and try out some of the new tech in the revamped follow-up in the long-running series.
And lastly, the big news of the show is the debut of Gearbox Software’s Borderlands 2. Set to launch late next year, early 2013 for the 360, PC, and PS3, the sequel will continue along the same shooter-RPG line as the original and add new characters, skills, weapons, environments, and enemies. In addition to the reveal, attendees will also have the chance to attend the “Inside Gearbox Software” panel on Sunday, August 28 at 3 p.m. in the Pegasus Theatre. The panel will discuss what it’s like at the studio, with topics including Borderlands 2 and the recently released Duke Nukem Forever, as well as offer some exclusives and—what all hungry, tired gamers crave—pizza.
