Gamers who preorder Battlefield 3 before it hits store shelves on October 25 will automatically receive the Limited Edition. In addition to the 10 multiplayer maps that ship with the Standard Edition, the Limited Edition will come with a free post-release DLC map pack, Back to Karkand, which will contain four maps from Battlefield 2 and retail for $14.99.
League of Legends is set to get a new, free mode shortly. Riot Games will be showing off Dominion, along with a new map for it, in two weeks at Gamescom. The new mode pits two teams against each other for control of five strategic points in quick, 20-minute matches. Dominion will be open to all Champions.
Blizzard has sent word that their Cenarion Hatchling charity project for the ongoing earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan has gone over like orcbusters. Ha! See what I did there? No? Ga-nevermind. As of July 31, World of Warcraft players have purchased over $1.9 million worth of Cenarion Hatchlings through a special program in which Blizzard donated 100% of the proceeds to charity.
RPGers itching to dive into D3Publisher’s Level-5 double pack of White Knight Chronicles II and International Edition are getting a bit of an incentive today through a new preorder program with GameStop. From now until the game’s launch this September, gamers who put down their cash will receive access to an exclusive set of arms and armor that includes the White Knight’s Helm, Sword, and Shield.
Agents of Change, Brink’s first post-launch DLC pack announced last week, has launched on Live, PSN, and Steam. It’s free to download for the first two weeks, and will cost 800 MS Points/$9.99 thereafter. Agents of Change increases the level cap to 24 and adds new outfits, abilities, weapon attachments, and maps.
Some celebratory QuakeCon 2011 sales have hit Steam and the Apple App store today, with discounts on both id and Bethesda titles. In addition to Steam’s offerings, with the full list found here, including a daily deal featuring a Doom & Quake Complete Pack with Quake IV, many of id’s mobile titles are also on sale. There are some solid deals to be had, including Doom Classic for $1.99 (down from $6.99) and Doom II RPG for $.99 (down from $3.99) on the App Store. Additional details can be found below.
Treyarch doesn’t get much rest these days, judging by their DLC output. Annihilation just launched on the PC and PS3 last week, and now comes news that they are readying a new Zombie-only release for later this month. The upcoming pack, Rezurrection, will launch on August 23 on Live for 1200 MS Points and take players to the only place left that the undead haven’t shambled over: the Moon. Yep, the Moon.
