ClaDun x2 has hit the PS Network for the PSP. NIS’ follow-up to ClaDun: This is an RPG! follows in the same action-RPG mold but adds more spells, weapons, monsters, and dungeons. There are also increased customization options, allowing for gamers to tweak their character’s appearance and weapons, as well as the background music. In addition to the Ran-geons, New-geons, and new Tri-geons, the main character’s party can now be upgraded infinitely to meet all the nasty dangers that await.

Rage novel hits store shelves

A new book based on id’s upcoming shooter Rage is now available to prime you for the post-apocalyptic world that awaits this fall. The Matthew Costello-penned novel follows Lieutenant Nick Raine as he steps out of an underground Ark and onto an Earth devastated by an asteroid impact. Hundreds of years have passed, and Raine finds a world populated by mutants, bandits, haggard survivors, and a brutal faction known as the Authority. With his goal to restore civilization (simple!), Raine will have to face down the dangers of the wilds.

Gatling Gears putters onto PC

Vanguard Games’ twin-stick shooter Gatling Gears has launched on Origin, EA’s rebranded online distribution store. Currently available for the 360 and PS3, the $9.99 top-down shooter puts players in the shoes of Max Brawley and his Gatling Gears mech as he faces down the might of the Empire to stop them from harvesting the Earth’s resources. Alone or with a friend in on- or offline co-op play, players will fight the Empire through 30 environments using gatling guns, grenades, and rockets, collecting the leftover debris to earn point multipliers and upgrades.

Serious Sam: Double D, the first release in the Serious Sam Indie Series, is now available from Mommy’s Best Games on Get Games, Steam, and other download outlets. The $7.99 2D shooter includes 80,640 gunstacker combinations—take a gun, then stake another on top, then another, and then another, etc.—an 18-level campaign set across three time periods, 12 challenge levels, 25 monsters, 70 secret areas, and “ginormous boss encounter.”

Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection now on PSN, tomorrow on Live

Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, a compilation comprised of Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, and (fortunately) Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, is now available for the PS3 on PSN. Xbox owners will be able to get in on the action tomorrow when the game launches on Live. PC gamers have to wait a bit longer, unfortunately, as Kollection isn’t due out for PC until later this month. The 800 MS Point/$9.99 set also includes online play, leaderboards and achievements/trophies.
