What better way is there to celebrate 25 years than with a little Might & Magic? Starting today, everyone who has preordered Might & Magic Heroes 6 now has access to the beta. The beta includes maps from the single-player campaign as well as one for multiplayer, plus a sample of the integrated online feature, The Conflux.
Gatling Gears, the latest twin-stick shooter from Greed Corp. developer Vanguard Games, is now available on the PS Network for $9.99. Released last May on Live Arcade for 800 MS Points, Gatling Gears is a top-down shooter with over 30 unique areas, support for online and offline co-op, and a 10-round Survival mode. As Max Brawley, players will control a Gatling Gear mech with orders to protect the Earth’s remaining resources from the forces of the nefarious Empire.
The Resident Evil series makes its debut on the 3DS today with Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. Based on the Mercenaries mini-game included in recent releases, players take eight playable characters (Chris Redfield, Krauser, Hunk, Jill Valentine, Albert Wesker, Barry Burton, Rebecca Chambers, and Claire Redfield) through 30 levels that include locations, enemies, and bosses from both Resident Evil 4 and 5. The goal is to take out as many enemies as possible in the allotted time. Along the way, players will be able to customize their characters through skill slots and upgrades. In addition to all characers and levels being in 3D, the title also features support for two-player co-op network play. A demo of the upcoming 3DS Resident Evil Revelations is also included.
With El Presidente set to make his triumphant return later this summer in Tropico 4, he felt it best that those new to the world of tyranny get some practice in beforehand. After applying a firm boot to many a chin, Kalypso has launched Tropico 3 on Live’s Games On Demand. For $19.99, gamers will get to play as the dictator himself in the island-flavored city-building/economic sim.
A new healthy round of DLC for Dissidia 012 has hit the PS Store today, and even more has been announced for next month. The latest set consists of avatars while the next includes both costumes and BGM packs.
Annihilation, the third and latest DLC release for Call of Duty: Black Ops, is now available for the 360. The Treyarch-developed pack includes four maps for regular multiplayer and one map for Zombie. The regular maps include Hangar 18, set in Area 51 and featuring experimental weapons labs and other test areas; Drive-In, a close-quarters map set in a 1960’s American Drive-In theater; Silo, a large multi-level secret Soviet missile site; and Hazard, a coastal golf course set on the cliff sides of Cuba. The Zombie map is Shangri-La, which includes new zombie types and an underground cavern set within a shrine.
The retail version of Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is now on store shelves for the 360 and PS3. For $39.99, gamers get four new characters, an enhanced Replay channel, and other goodies. A downloadable version was released earlier this month for 1200 MS Points/$14.99.
