The 3DS might be out, but the DS appears to have no intention of relinquishing its crown as the (affordable) go-to system for role-playing games. And with that, Atlus has announced that the clam-shelled juggernaut will be receiving the hybrid strategy-RPG Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 next year.
Similar to the original Devil Survivor, players will engage in turn-based combat as well as collect, auction, and enhance captured demons. The sequel will introduce a way to develop bonds between the party members, similar to the Social Links in the later Personas, which will unlock rewards. The links are even more important this time around, as “every party member in the game is vulnerable to permanent death based on critical player choices over the course of the game.”
