PS3 gamers with an itch for Black Ops have been waiting a while to get back in the fight, but just in time for the PS Network’s full restoration is a release date for the latest DLC pack, Escalation. Activision has announced that the four-multiplayer map, Zombie-heavy release will launch on the PS Store on June 10. To celebrate the launch, Treyarch is hosting a Double XP weekend event, similar to what PC gamers are currently enjoying, starting on June 10.
UTV Ignition Games’ upcoming surreal action-adventure title El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron will be hitting store shelves on July 26 for the 360 and PS3. Inspired by the Old Testament’s Book of Enoch, players will battle their way through the tower of Babel in order to capture the seven Fallen Angels as the chosen priest, Enoch. With the aid of Lucifel, Enoch’s guardian angel, players will attempt to stop a flood that will wipe out mankind by offering up the souls of those seven who turned away from Heaven. Developed by Sawaki Takeyasu (Devil May Cry, Okami), the 2D/3D platformer has found a warm reception in Japan and is looking like it may be just the thing for the late summer doldrums.
Some new shots from Call of Juarez: The Cartel for you fine readers today. The latest batch shows off the game’s multiplayer “coopetition” system, which is a blend of both co-op and competition as players work together only for as long as they need each other. The system revolves around three core mechanics: Secret Agendas, additional objectives characters receive from handlers and informants which need to be done in secret; Items, players need to grab certain items without being caught; and Challenges, segments where players race to reach a randomly selected goal. Accomplishing any of the objectives will net you experience points to use for leveling up and unlocking better weapons. Even better, if you catch another player in the act, you get to keep their goods.
