The Helghast are a determined lot. After two sound beatings—by me, at least—they are back at the ISA’s throats with the newly launched Killzone 3. But things are a bit different this time as the Helghast are now leaderless, thanks to us and the ISA in Killzone 2, and warring between themselves. Stuck in the middle of a civil war, with no hope of reinforcements or supplies, players must fight their way out with their ISA brethren. All is not lost, though, as there will be a new WASP missile launcher, jet packs, Intruders, and new melee system to fight back the Helghast hordes.
Developed by series creators Guerrilla Games, the fourth in the series will also support all the high-tech glory of the current generation with “full stereoscopic 3D compatibility along with PlayStation Move functionality.” The PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter peripheral has also launched, designed with input from the folks at Guerrilla, which encases the Move motion controller in an assault rifle-styled shell.
For those looking to go all out, there’s a step up from the standard retail edition also available: the Killzone 3 Helghast Edition. In addition to a copy of the game, the Helghast Edition includes a replica of a Helghast helmet, a DC Unlimited 6.5″ tall Helghast Marksman action figure, and a 100-page hardbound art book. Each box will also contain a Super Voucher that will be good for the game’s full soundtrack, a PS3 Dynamic Theme, Retro Map Pack with two re-mastered Killzone 2 maps, bonus video of behind-the-scenes footage, and double XP as well as full access to all weapons and abilities for the first 24 hours of multiplayer.
