A bit of surprising (and good) news to round out the week: NIS has announced that they are working with Nicalis to develop Cave Story 3D for the Nintendo 3DS.
Originally released as freeware on the PC in 2004, Cave Story’s addictive action-platforming stylized retro approach hooked gamers from the beginning, eventually hitting the WiiWare service in 2010. And now, the 3DS will be getting the same treatment this summer when Cave Story 3D brings the original’s “high-speed shooting action scenes with heavy emphasis on platforming, exploration, light puzzle solving” while expanding the lore of Quote and the Mimigas in “stereoscopic awesomeness.”
