Although bandied about, an official North American release for Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overlocked for the 3DS wasn’t announced until today. Fans of traditional strategy elements in their role-playing games, or just really weird stories, can look forward to returning to the Shin Megami Tensei universe later this year when Overclocked hits store shelves this summer. Released in 2009 for the DS, Devil Survivor put players in a locked down Tokyo in the midst of the government’s brutal response to a sudden invasion by demons. A group of friends set about discovering and closing the interdimensional rift that was allowing the creatures to enter. The “expanded and enhanced” Overclocked is said to build on the original release with voice acting stretching the length of the game and the addition of a special eighth chapter, dubbed as “a rousing epilogue for Shin Megami Tensei fans.” The graphics will also be enhanced, taking advantage of the 3DS’ greater horsepower.
