THQ launches Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Honor Guard loyalty program

For all of those in the emperor’s service, or looking to be, THQ has announced a new loyalty program for their upcoming third-person action-shooter Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine. Currently scheduled to ship in 2011 for the 360, PC, and PS3, Space Marine will mark the first time Relic steps out of the strategy genre to bring gamers further into Game Workshops over-the-top (and awesome) universe.

In preparation for the melee-shooterfest, the Honor Guard loyalty program will allow gamers access to the latest news, first looks for media assets, and reward points for viral activity, “which could result in rewards of exclusive Space Marine-branded items.”

The Honor Guard program is kicking off at Gamescom as THQ will be handing out an Ultramarine cloth patch with directions on how to register for a free ‘For the Emperor’ ring tone.  The patch will also be handed out at Games Workshop’s US Games Day event in Baltimore on August 21, 2010, and the UK Games Day event at the Birmingham NEC on September 26, 2010. The cloth map is the first of five items that will be given away, with details about the remaining four items coming throughout the year.

You are a Space Marine, one of humanity’s elite warriors, the last line of defence between mankind and its enemies. Through extensive genetic modification, psycho-chemical conditioning and years of rigorous training that would kill a normal man a Space Marine becomes superhuman.

When one of the industrial ‘Forge World’ planets where humanity creates its greatest weapons, comes under attack and the thousands of imperial soldiers stationed there are overwhelmed the only thing standing between this planet and its total destruction is your Space Marine.
