Capcom and Namco have teamed up for a dual crossover featuring their biggest franchises, Street Fighter and Tekken. Each company will have their own take on the fight with Capcom releasing Street Fighter X Tekken and Namco releasing Tekken X Street Fighter. Both titles are slated for release on the 360 and PS3, though neither will be hitting store shelves for a while as Capcom, whose entry will be first out of the gate, is currently focusing on Marvel vs Capcom 3.
Street Fighter X Tekken will transport Tekken characters into the Street Fighter universe through the technology behind Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV. Aside from them adopting the popular oil-based art style, their signature moves will also be reworked for proper use in one less plane as they make the transition from 3D to 2D. In addition to Versus and Training, a Tag Team mode was also announced, allowing players to select two fighters for knockout assist attacks and special combos.
Less is known about Namco’s offering, Tekken X Street Fighter. Like Capcom, the company will be reimaging their counterpart’s characters to fit them into their universe, with Street Fighter characters being reworked for Tekken’s traditional 3D approach and art style.
