id and Bethesda have announced that all attendee registration for QuakeCon 2010 will be
handled on-site at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas. The new, streamlined process is stated to have been “designed to reduce the time BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) attendees spend waiting to register equipment, and generally better serve all those in attendance.”
QuakeCon will begin on Thursday, August 12 at 9:00am and end at noon on Sunday, August 15. The event is still free, and The Hilton Anatole is now taking room reservations through their custom QuakeCon Reservation Page and by their toll-free reservations number, 1-800-HILTONS.
The Hilton is also running a limited discount on rooms for the event. You must request the group rate for “QuakeCon 2010” or book through their QuakeCon page when making your reservation to receive the special room rate of $154.00 (single, double, triple or quad occupancy) and the special daily guest-only, self-park rate of $8. A first night’s deposit on reservations is also required, though it is refundable up to 48 hours in advance of the first day of the event.
In addition to all of the tournaments, hands-on demos, contests, panel discussions, sponsor booths, and parties, QuakeCon 2010 will have a 250-seat tournament arena so that spectators can get a clear view of the top matches. For those on the go, there will also be large screens with play-by-play commentary from this year’s shoutcasters to keep those on the go abreast on tournament details.
Also, due to the new partnership with Bethesda, QuakeCon attendees will also get a chance to check out some of Bethesda’s upcoming offerings, including Brink, Fallout: New Vegas, and Hunted: The Demon’s Forge.
